Mario Valencia
V-Card

Mario advises multinational and domestic clients on international transactions and high-value customs and international trade projects in Mexico.

He focuses on the intersection between proper transaction execution and risk management, advising clients on both the international structuring of projects andregulatory handling and exposure before authorities at the most critical moments.

His involvement is key, among other scenarios, when a transaction depends on properly achieving regulatory requirements and needs; operational structures and controls(IMMEX, supply chains, customs valuation, origin certification) must ensure regulatory compliance in the event of a review; and there is a substantial level of exposure before the Tax Administration Service or customs authorities, including defending structuresbefore the Courts.

Additionally, Mario provides comprehensive advice on transaction structuring, internal and external audits, compliance actions and enforcement of controls, valuationdisputes, and strategic risk mitigation, including investigations into unfair international trade practices, defending importers, exporters, and producers in antidumping and subsidy cases.

His approach is not limited to technical legal accuracy but extends to the clarity needed for decision-making: what matters, what does not, and how to move forwardwith confidence.

Mario regularly works with large-scale companies that operate or those confronting complex scenarios in which the margin for error is minimal.

He holds an LL.B. from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (2005) and an LL.M. in International Business and Economic Law, with a certificate on WTO Studies from Georgetown University Law Center (2016).

Mario has been recognized by Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500 as an expert in International Trade/Customs.
